To this...................
Amanda passed her driver's license test on her very first try. She is now a licensed driver! She was ready months ago, but she wanted to practice parallel parking some more. She was afraid to try it in the van and she hasn't mastered Rich's standard yet, so her boyfriend brought his grandmother's car over for her to practice in and let her borrow it for the test today. His family was just as excited as our family was that she passed (isn't that sweet?).As soon as we got home, she asked me if she could go somewhere.....I let her drive to the store (boy is that going to come in handy, I'm sure). Sarah went with her and as they were pulling out of the driveway, Sarah mouthed "help me" LOL! She is such a smarty pants!
And they're off.....I swear I didn't cry! But I did get all sentimental. One minute you are giving birth, the next you're sending them off to school, then they grow up and get their driver's license. Next thing you know they will be going to the prom and graduating high school and leaving home for real. With a car loaded down with all their belongings.
Why can't they just stay little?
Oh I hear you. And it is happening to me all over again with the Grands. Visiting you from New Friend Friday...but I know it's Saturday.
ReplyDeletei can still remember when I got my licenses... time does go so fast.

ReplyDeleteWow - an extra driver in the house! Congrats to her and to you for getting through the learning phase :)
ReplyDeleteHow responsible is she that she didn't want to take the test until she'd had more practice??? Good job on that one hehe
ReplyDeleteStopping by from SITS
Yay for having another driver in the family! Yes, that could definitely come in handy.
ReplyDeleteYou're right - they do grow up too fast. I'm having a hard time coming to terms with my youngest starting school next year. I don't even want to think about the other milestones to come.
Oh good God, I'm so emotional tonight. Your last paragraph made me all teary-eyed. Sometimes I'm in such a hurry to get past these chaotic days of diaper changes, potty training and whining...but I don't think I can handle watching my kids drive off to the store in the family car. It makes my heart ache.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your daughter on her license...she does look so excited so I guess that helps with the heartache a little bit.
