Avoid the Summer Slide with a DIY Reading Camp

Now that summer is in full swing, if you are like most parents, you are probably worried about your kids sliding and forgetting what they learned while at school.

One way to avoid all that is by doing your own Summer Reading Camp.

Education.com has an awesome program full of activities, worksheets and projects perfect for keeping those little minds busy, while retaining what they've learned.  There are several different grade levels to choose from, as well as themed weeks such as; Dragons and Dinos, Sports and Games, Play Outside, Heroes, Bugs, etc. to make the whole experience as fun as can be...kids won't even realize that they are still learning, because it is that much fun.  Ten full weeks of fun projects just for kids.  At the beginning of each week, print out the "to do" list of things you will need and you are set.  Everything else like printables, craft ideas and more are already planned, all you have to do is follow along....easy peasy, right?

There is also a really cool challenge for kids called "We'll Read 10"

When your kids read 10 books they will be entered to win a Kindle Prize Package.  They even have a list of books to choose by grade level to make it even easier.

So avoid the summer slide and get those kids reading!
