Veterans Day (stART project)

In honor of our veterans, the boys and I read the book Veterans Day (An American Holidays book).  It is a non-fiction book made for kids about how Veterans Day came about.

The boys made Red, White and Blue Star Wreaths.  We cut out the inside circle of a paper plate and glued red, white and blue stars all over the wreath.  I can't remember where I found the star template (but you can google it and find one that you like).  We also used glitter star shaped foam stickers for an added flair.

We also made "Thank You" cards for our veterans.  Because we are so grateful for all the sacrifices these men and women made to serve and defend our country.

(Excuse the dirty face....we made these after dinner while they were eating a snack of m&ms)

Happy Veterans Day!!

The wreaths are wonderful. I love the added glitter from the stickers. Cards were a great idea too. I started to cards and realized JDaniel won't know what a veteran was.

What a great idea. It is so important to teach them about this at an early age. And that craft is wonderful!

It's a great project for Veteran's Day. I admit that I am not ready to talk to my 4 year old about wars quite yet, so we skipped it this year. Good to know that there is a good book to explain this holiday.
