Bargaining Chips

Last night, I discovered that my camera usb cord was missing. Talk about having a panic attack. I live through my camera (so to speak), so I was really upset that I couldn't find it. I even questioned the kids like they were under interrogation.

Do you know where my cord is?
When was the last time you saw it?
Are you telling me the truth?

Maybe I would have gotten better results if I shined a light in their faces?

I even sang a sad, sad song. "Oh where oh where has my camera cord gone - oh where oh where can it be? With it's cord so long....."

Ok, that was a bit too much, huh?

Anyway, I was in tears looking for that damn, dumb cord. Rich told me that he would help me look and he told me not to worry, that he would buy me a new one if we couldn't find it.

Finally, this morning Amanda went to down to the laundry room to clean the cat box, when what did she see on the floor? My camera cord!

When she handed it to me she said "Now, Whitney better be able to spend the night, since I found it."

I didn't tell her, but I was planning on letting Whitney spend the night anyway.

Oh happy day - I have my camera cord back!!!!

Peaches

I was recently hungry for some peaches and made some peach cobbler and had enough left over to make a peach pie too.

So Awesome!

Cutting them is always a pain, because of the pits (wonder if there is an easier way?)

They smelled so yummy while they were cooking!

And it totally satisfied my craving - Dee - lic -ious!

New Definition ?

Nathan was handing me clothes as I was doing the laundry this afternoon (big helper that he is) and he handed me a bra and said....

"Here's your boob thing, Mom"

Ha ha ha ha!!

Gotta love it!

Jealous Much?

I really should stop getting on Facebook. I'm not only addicted to it, AGAIN. But, reading all of my friends' status things is starting to make me feel jealous. I'm jealous of the vacations they are going on and feel wistful looking at the pictures of all these beaches and mountains. I'm jealous that they go out on weekends and plan all these big blow out parties. I'm jealous that they cook these amazing meals. I'm jealous of the activities that they do with their children. It's getting to be a bit too much. I realize that some of it might be lies, and that not everyone is doing these things. I also know that I'm incredibly lucky for the blessings that I do have. But when I'm constantly reading these things it makes me wish or want for more. I don't know, I guess I'm weird or something.

I would quit FB all together, but I'm addicted to the games that I play on there. They are really stupid, dumb games, but I can't help myself....I NEED to feed my pet and buy it clothes and things. And I NEED to tend to my farm and plants and buy stuff for it like houses, flowers, lawnmowers, wood piles, silos and barns. I NEED to do my mafia jobs and earn as much money as I can so I can buy more stuff and guns, and properties. I NEED to get on YoVille and feed my character and buy her clothes and houses and furniture for the houses. I NEED to collect the most flowers for my Lil Green Patch and I NEED to collect as many flair buttons for my bulletin board as I can fit on the thing. And I really do like reconnecting with my relatives and old classmates and friends. Some of those people I haven't seen in 20 plus years, it is kind of cool seeing what happened to them.

But, I could, if I tried, spend all day long on there doing all those things and then nothing...absolutely nothing would get done in my house. And my kids would feel neglected and my husband would be upset and my real pets would starve. I guess I'll just have to take it all in stride if I read someone's status and they are jet setting for Europe on a private plane and remember that I am exactly where I want to be - HOME with my husband and family. Doing exactly what I wanted, which is making sure my family is taken care of and that they feel well loved. And try not to worry so much about all the other STUFF.

I forgot what it was like!

I got a taste of what it will be like on the first day of school when it will just be me and Nathan again.

What fun....let me tell ya!!

Sarah, Zachary and Nicholas are spending time at Grandma's this weekend. And Amanda and Anthony went running around with their friends so for most of the day it was just me and Nathan. He has worn me down, completely - LOL! I have been driving myself nuts trying to come up with things to do with him to keep him occupied. He is doing pretty well, but he told me his misses his brothers and sisters. I guess when you're the youngest of six it would be lonely if they were all of a sudden gone.

Now that he is sleeping and I'm cleaning up the mess that was made today, I'm realizing that I am going to have to come up with alot more things and activities to keep him busy when they all go back to school next week.

That and stock up on LOTS of Tylenol!

My Philosophy on School Shopping

I have been reading blogs and facebook statuses where people are talking about school shopping. Mostly, it seems as though people are having to buy school supplies for their classrooms and teachers. I just find that unbelievable and feel really grateful that our school district does not require that of parents. I truly can't imagine having to buy tissues and hand sanitizer for my children's classrooms. How ridiculous! Thank God our school taxes actually get used for what they were intended for.

Now as for my own family and school shopping, I can honestly tell you that I don't buy my kids new clothes for the sole purpose of school shopping. When my kids need clothes or shoes then I buy them. Of course I realize that they might like to have nice new things when school starts, but I don't see the point in it. My thinking is this...kids grow in the summer. It's still hot in August, September and usually October. Therefore, my kids are going to want to wear shorts and tee shirts, not jeans. So, why would I buy new pants for them to wear when I know damn well they won't wear them for at least another three months. And by then, they will more than likely grow out of them.

I do however buy them new backpacks, lunch boxes, tablets, pencils, paper, pens, crayons, markers, glue, etc. I know those are things that they will need and use. They won't sit in a drawer all balled up waiting to be worn when the weather cools. So my philosophy is don't buy the clothes. My kids don't seem to be bothered by this at all. They understand my thinking and they know that I'm right about them not wearing the clothes right away anyway. They also know that when they need something they will get it, so for them they don't think that the only time they get new clothes or shoes is for school, Christmas or birthdays.

I always get asked how do we manage to go school shopping for 5 (in another year it'll be 6) kids and that's my answer.....so now you know too. Ask me again at Christmas, how we manage that one hahaha!

Braggin' On My Kid

We got a letter in the mail the other day from the school saying that Anthony won an award. He was awarded outstanding student, for maintaining a 4.0 grade point average throughout the 7-9 grades. Way to go Anthony!! I'm so proud of you! Thank God you ended up with your dad's genius brain LOL!
