Ah crap!

I did some changes to my blog and now my email address doesn't come up when you click on it under my profile page.  It came up before...what the heck did I do??

If you have any answers or can help me with my little problem, or maybe try clicking it yourself to see if it works for you...I would deeply appreciate it.

Changes can be a good thing, but I'm not always open to them.  Especially if it screws things up that I don't know how to fix.

Felt Snowmen

I bought these kits at Target, they are supposed to be ornaments, but since Christmas is over, I thought we could glue them to construction paper instead. 

You can do the same thing without the kit, just by using felt and cutting out the pieces.

We glued white tissue paper to the bottom to represent snow.

Then, we "built" our snowmen

Since the kit came with 2 each...Nathan made an extra one.

Art doesn't have to be expensive or some over the top elaborate project....just some simple paper, scissors, crayons and a good old fashion imagination and you can turn anything into a piece of art.

I paid 40 cents total for this project.  The kits were 90% off on clearance, the tissue paper was recycled from Christmas wrapping and the paper and glue we already had on hand.

My New Favorite Thing - Love it!

I stumbled across a really awesome site....basically, you get to read children's books for free online and they send brand new books to charities across the world.  The website is called We Give Books - Read A Book, Give A Book.  Some of the charities that benefit from this wonderful program are Hope For Haiti, Harlem's Children Zone and Jumpstart for Children (which helps benefit preschool classrooms across America). 

We Give Books was created by Penguin Group and the Pearson Foundation.  All you need to do is sign up for free, pick a charity you wish to support and read books to your children.  We Give Books then sends books to that organization.   How awesome is that?!  For more info you can read their About Us or FAQ page.

We Give Books has a pretty extensive selection of books to read.  You can chose to read books for a particular organization or search by author or age.  Either way you chose, you still help put books in children's hands that may not of had the chance to have new books, if not for this program.  Anyone with internet access can read a book and help give a book.  If you love reading to your child/ren, check out this site.

Just thought it would be fun to share this site with my readers.  It's my new favorite thing and it may end up being your's too.

Let's Paint

I recently bought some Melissa and Doug paints for Nathan (using my gift card from CSN stores).  The day UPS dropped them off, Nathan saw them and was so excited that he asked if he could paint with them right away.  How can I say no to a little creativity time.....

These have been hanging up for a few days now . . . .  and this morning, he told me I hung his house painting upside down (???) I'm not even sure which one is the house, are you?

Brothers!

Santa brought all four boys Nerf guns this Christmas.  They used to play with them all the time, but over the years the guns broke, or they lost the darts and balls or simply just lost interest.  Then, Amanda asked Nicholas what he wanted for his birthday in November and he told her a Nerf gun.  She bought him a laser tag Nerf gun pack (came with two guns), so that Nathan could play too.  As it turned out, all the boys were playing with them and fighting over the guns ensued.  

Enter more Nerf guns, with each boy getting one for Christmas and Nicholas (who specifically asked for more) got a few more.  Now not a day goes by when there isn't a dart flying past my head.  Or walking into a room with darts hanging from the ceiling.  It's funny watching them battle with each other.  It's even funnier when they gang up on Anthony.  Anthony is a pretty good big brother, in as far as letting his younger siblings hang out in his room and playing with his Wii (that he bought with his own money).  And occasionally he still wrestles around with the boys and lets the little ones think they win.

I'm So Thrilled With Myself

It's the little things, I swear. 

I bought this little end table at the Salvation Army.  It was marked down to 5 bucks and they were having a 50% off sale on everything, except furniture.  When I carried it up front the girl said "There isn't a furniture sticker on it, those stickers are different.  This just has a regular sticker on it, so it's your lucky day."  And she gave me the table for 2.50.  I think I paid more on the paint than the table itself LOL! I dragged it downstairs before Rich could see it, because I know he would have said "You paid money for that thing!"

But it sure looks cute now....sportin' it's pretty navy blue color. 

Navy blue has been my "go to" accent color in the living room.  Not sure why, but I love the way it looks with the wall color.  I made Rich paint all my shelves navy blue too.  I have three shelves in the living room now.  The first one I paid $10 for and it had this little "lip" thingy on the bottom.  The other two didn't have that (and the two together cost half the price of the original one, $2 for one and $3 for the other one), but they looked close enough to match.  So, Rich in all his handy dandy glory made the little lip thingy for the other two shelves and with their matching coats of paint you can hardly tell they aren't a matched set.  

Funny thing was when I bought this one at a yard sale the lady told me that it was a little scuffed and that I "might" be able to get it out with some lemon oil or something.  She said I don't think you can stain it or paint it.....Oh really??

Looks pretty good painted to me.
