Ants & Worms

The boys have really gotten into Club Mom

Every day, they eagerly wait for craft time, this morning they had to wait a bit longer than they would have liked because it was library day.  Nathan had his reading session this morning and the library served lunch.  They serve lunch every day in the summer, so we figured since we were already there we might as well join them.  The boys ate their lunch among friends and stacks of books.

Later this afternoon, Nicholas had his turn.  Nick was apprehensive about doing it this year, but when I picked him up, he was all smiles and really glad he went.

Mission Accomplished!

Today's books were

Ace Lacewing Bug Detective
by David Biedryzycki

and

Diary of a Worm
by Doreen Cronin

Both books were super cute.

Then they made Dirt Cups

I'm sure everyone knows what dirt cups are, but just in case you've been living under a rock like a bug...I'll share the recipe for you.

You will need the following

clear plastic cups
2 cups of cold milk
1 box instant chocolate pudding
1 container Cool Whip
1 pkg Oreos; crushed
gummy worms

Mix the pudding according to package directions and set aside for about 5 minutes.  Stir in the cool whip and about 1/2 of the oreos.  Scoop a few small spoonfuls of the crushed oreos into the cups, next add the pudding mixture, followed by another spoonful of crushed oreos and garnish with gummy worms.  refrigerate for at least a half hour before serving.

enjoy

While we waited for the dirt cups to chill, the boys made these super adorable ants

You will need:

1 pinchy clothespin painted black
some black pipe cleaners
google eyes
three black buttons
glue
scissors (to cut the pipe cleaners)

Paint the clothes pin black and set it aside to dry

take one pipe cleaner and cut it down into three or four sections

using one small section thread the pipe cleaner through the button holes and make an antennae

glue google eyes to the same button

thread the other three smaller sections through the clothespin and glue them in place (legs)

glue the three buttons to the top of the pin with the 'head' button on the 'pinchy' side of the clothespin

and walahhhh

such a cute, fun craft!

we are loving our buggy adventures....and hope you are too!
